Home is not a Place
More than midway through November and I can't believe how fast this year has gone by. Thanksgiving is in ONE WEEK! I've been thinking a lot lately about what I'm thankful for. This year has been so good to me, and I constantly find myself stopping to just reflect on the opportunities that 2015 has given me. Since I'm not sure I'll be posting again before the holiday, I wanted to share with you some of things I'm truly grateful for this year:
I'm MOST thankful to my family, and all the support they have given me. I really wanted to focus a lot of my attention toward my photography this year, and without their encouragement, I wouldn't have been able to do that nearly as much. Since I live and work in the city, it's not always easy to get around to shoot in the forest. Can not express enough how much I appreciate my mom or dad for always dropping what they're doing in order to drive the two hours to the train station to pick me up - just so I can shoot for a day.
I'm thankful for having the chance to travel and visit new places. I'm realizing more and more how much I love to travel (which is a big thing for me, up until a couple years ago I was pretty scared to fly and would become an anxious mess on flights). I'm still a little jittery, but I'm proud to say that I've finally gotten over a major part of that fear. Next year I want to go to as many places as I can! All along the West coast, Alaska, Iceland...
I'm thankful for all the new friends I've made - whether in person or through social media, and for the continuing strength of old friendships. This year I learned the hard way that even best friends aren't always going to be in your life. I am not someone who easily opens up to new people, so I am sincerely grateful to those who have stuck by me.
And last but not least, I'm thankful to you! Thank you for coming to this space, reading my thoughts, and looking at my photos. Your presence keeps me going, and I would not be doing this without the support of this little community. So excited for what lies next!
