Foxfire Mountain House :: A Cozy Country Retreat

Hi guys!

Going to make a very conscious effort to share more blogs this month (I know, I know, I have said this before!). I always get caught up in the midst of adventures and road trips, only to realize weeks (months!) later that I have collections of great memories I never shared with you all! My first week of foliage hunting is quickly coming to a close, which consisted of hikes in New Hampshire and cozying up in the Catskill mountains of New York. Our home base for the last few days has been Foxfire Mountain House, a beautiful retreat nestled in Mount Tremper.

Not gonna lie, the very first thing I did after check-in was take a three hour nap, ha! Our room was so cozy, and the bed was heavenly. We didn’t do too much poking around until the following morning, when we got back from breakfast at our favorite local spot, Phoenicia Diner - a 5 minute drive away! The common space is beautifully decorated, with antiques and rustic touches throughout. We had time to work downstairs and then sink into the deep couches with a couple good books. The candles and dim lighting give off such a snuggly, warm ambiance, it was difficult to leave!

My favorite aspect of Foxfire is definitely the grounds. A little pathway circles around a pond, creating the most romantic atmosphere. It seriously felt like something out of an Austen novel! Steps away lies the enchanting glasshouse, a little oasis that makes for the perfect adult clubhouse. The best part is that on weather permitting evenings, there’s a bonfire lit right in front!

I highly recommend Foxfire Mountain House as a romantic destination, as it makes for the perfect couple escape! Everything exudes a cozy, intimate vibe, especially with the changing leaves out front. We booked our stay using the HotelTonight app, which has an awesome Daily Drop feature that shares day-of deep discounts on beautiful places like this! If you haven’t already tried the app, download and use code JESOLM for $25 off your first booking!

Happy leaf peeping, friends!
