Five States of Woolrich

If you've been following along with my Instagram, you may remember me talking about a big Northeast road trip a couple weeks back. To make the trip extra special, Woolrich sent out some pieces from their new Fall lineup to try out. With a few friends in tow, we set out to showcase the items in each state ( Vermont, New York, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Maine) and capture peak foliage along the way. Below is a list of our stops and where we caught the best colors! P.S. you can tell which items were trip favorites, as they make repeat appearances!
Vermont - Green Mountains
Our first stop on the trip was to Killington Ski Resort. We took the gondola to the summit and explored the nearby trails. The top of the mountain was a bit windy, so having my Snowfall Valley Snowflake Cardigan on hand ended up being the perfect layer. After we had our fill of the summit, we headed to Quechee Gorge for sunset. The area is a perfect place to spend an afternoon. The park offers hiking, camping, and even hot air balloon rides! We were excited to get there right around golden hour, and loved the way the gorge lit up with the pops of color on the trees. After the sun set, we drove back to New York, where we would spend the next day.
New York - Adirondack Mountains
As I'm sure you all know, the Adirondack Mountains are very near and dear to me. I love sharing my favorite hikes and locations with others, and this trip was no exception. To have the trails to ourselves, we started super early (i.e. the middle of the night) to catch sunrise on Lower Ausable Lake. This chain of trails is by far one of my favorites in the Adirondacks, and I have loved seeing how different the landscape appears in every season. The foliage really showed off in this area, and it was really special being able to see the first light hitting up the mountain-side. As we waited for the sun to rise, we cozied up in flannels - the Men's Trout Run Plaid Flannel and Women's Oxbow Bend Shirt Jac being some favorites, and snuggled in our Allegheny 100% Wool Blanket. After our fill of foliage on the lake, we drove through the Central Adirondacks to hike the Bald Mountain Fire tower. Being a bright and sunny day, the short hike called for minimal layers. My new favorite flannel, the Pemberton, was the perfect weight for windy weather up top! After an exhausting - and beautiful! day, it was time to get some rest before our next day of adventures!
New Hampshire - White Mountains
After driving through the night, we arrived in New Hampshire just as the sun was rising. We couldn't help but pull over on the side of the road a dozen times to shoot sun rays and fog! Our first stop was Echo Lake in Franconia Notch. It was crazy windy, so a mid-weight coat was definitely in order. I'm guilty of having a slight obsession with the Woolrich Giant Buffalo Wool Coat, so much so that I have both colors! They were a great addition to this trip, especially on cool mornings like this one. After a quick stop for breakfast and lots of coffee, we made our way to the very popular Flume Gorge. Don't be deterred by the crowds, this place is really worth it! I can't wait to go back on a rainy day next Summer. Although the trails are mostly level, my Yankee Unlined Boots were the perfect shoes for exploring. I love the tan color, and how they really blended in with the surrounding foliage. To round out the day, we decided to hike up to the Lonesome Lake hut. Although the hike is definitely more intermediate in difficulty, the views at the top are 100% worthwhile. Out of all the stops on our trip, I loved our stop in the White Mountains the most. This area is without a doubt becoming one of my favorite places on the East Coast!
Maine - Southern Coast
Our next stop was the southern coast of Maine, to the town of Wells. We went to the Wells Reserve at Laudholm to check out the coastal trail system. The weather had taken a turn, and we were greeted with misty rain and colder temps. I normally love this kind of weather, but it doesn't make for the best hiking conditions! Luckily, I kept dry in my Classic Waterproof Raincoat.
Massachusetts - The Berkshires
Our final leg of the trip was spent in Massachusetts. As it is October, we couldn't pass up a stop to Salem! After a quick tour around town (including a visit to the infamous Salem Witch Museum), we were on our way to the Berkshires. We didn't have any specific locations in mind, so we simply enjoyed taking the back country roads near Lenox, MA. If we had more time, I would have loved to do a little car camping in the area. We made the back super cozy with my Allegheny and Rough Rider Wool Blankets, and it took all the strength I had to not take a nap then and there!
Suffice it to say, our whirlwind adventure left us exhausted. But being able to explore the Northeast and see the foliage during peak weekend made it a trip that we'll never forget.
