A Snow Day Solstice Celebration at Gather Greene
Happy (Official!) Winter, guys!
This holiday season, I teamed up with Greene County in New York State to explore some of the most unique draws to the region. The county is home to the Great Northern Catskills, and after a fun adventure on Hunter Mountain, I curled up for the night in the little cabin community known as Gather Greene.
The grounds of Gather Greene are perfect for groups - especially weddings or business retreats. Beyond the seventeen cabins lie a beautiful pavilion and bonfire circle, a pond, and acre upon acre of land to explore. Although the cabins are situated next to each other, the privacy of the large woods-facing window makes you feel like you could be miles from the next person. Both the interiors and exteriors are inspired by Scandinavian design, which can be found in the minimalist approach throughout. The cozy interiors provide all the basic necessities for your stay: you’ll find your bed, a small shelf (that hides your coffee until the morning!), a closet, and bathroom. Two favorite features include the rain shower head and suuuuper cozy king size bed. The cabins are heated, and I stayed nice and toasty during my stay.
After a great night’s sleep, I woke up to the surprise of snow falling outside! It was so mesmerizing to watch the snowflakes drift lazily through the trees from the giant window by my bed. I could have spent all afternoon from that perch, but of course, we had to get out to play in the new snow!
We made our way across the grounds to the pavilion, which was the perfect place to watch the snow drift by. Here you’ll also find two changing rooms, and a sprawling loft space (perfect for your morning yoga!). While most of the cabins won’t be open during the Winter months, a few of them will be available through the holiday season (I can’t image a cozier place to ring in the new year!). If you’re curious about booking a stay, head here.
I can’t wait to head back to this little Catskill cabin paradise later in the season! The trails leading through the cabins and beyond will be so fun to snowshoe in. For now, it’s time to head a bit further north, and finish out the holiday season with family. For updates on Gather Greene, you can follow along on their Instagram page!
Wishing you all a Happy Winter Solstice!
