The Wood House Muskoka :: A foliage adventure north of the border
Hi all!
Once again, I accidentally took a bit of a step back from this space. I’ve learned that when I’m traveling (which in October was 30 out of 31 days), it’s so hard for me to sit down and process the memories before they’ve had time to settle! I’m trying to get better about it, but I really enjoy waiting for those moments after a trip to let everything sink in. So! Now that I’ve been able to rest a bit, I’m diving back into all my favorite foliage hunting moments. Some of the very best colors we found were north of the border, at the Wood House Muskoka in Ontario.
Nestled along the Severn River in Muskoka, this dreamy cabin has been on my mind for awhileeee now. But since it’s not the shortest commute from home, I hadn’t been able to visit until now! And I’m SO GLAD we waited for foliage season, which happened to be at peak during our stay! The cabin was surrounded by glowing orange and yellow leaves, truly making it feel like something out of a fairytale.
Upon arrival, we were instantly drawn to the cabin’s huge wood beams, making it feel like we were staying in a Swiss ski chalet! After getting snuggly in our pjs, and making dinner in the beautiful kitchen, it was time to cozy up with a roaring fire and movie marathon.
Our first full day was spent exploring the grounds of the cabin. Being just steps from the waterfront was so awesome! We took some time to enjoy our morning coffee on the porch, then walked down to the dock to take in the beauty of colorful surroundings. The temps definitely encouraged us to stay indoors (there’s an entire cabinet of board games!!), so we turned the upstairs loft into our own personal movie theatre! With the chaos of the season (chasing fall colors is a tiring business, guys!), it was sooo nice to have a couple peaceful days to “hibernate” in this enchanting place.
Aside from the loft, there’s three bedrooms (one with bunk beds!), and ample space to sprawl out, making it the perfect space for a friend or family trip. Lake Huron and Algonquin Provincial Park are both nearby options for day trips, and little towns, like Coldwater, adding charm along the way. Leaving was definitely bittersweet, but our stay gave us the recharge our mental batteries so desperately needed! We’re so thankful that we had the chance to finally stay here, I can’t recommend it enough (especially to any of you who are in Ontario + West NY!).
