Travel Diary :: The Black A Frame in Vermont
Happy August, friends!
Hope you’re all enjoying your summer, I feel like I’ve blinked and months have gone by! Maybe that’s normal for this season, especially now that I’m back to being in a constant state of motion. July in particular was a blur of adventures, from nostalgic days spent at my family’s lake house, to a road trip up and down the New England coast, a few city moments, and some island camping to round it out. The beginning of the month was spent in the dreamiest of mountain homes :: The Black A Frame in Vermont. I’ve had this property saved in my Airbnb dream list for quite some time now, but as with most things during the pandemic, a visit to this special place was put on the back burner. Now that travel is back to being more “normal”, I made a point in prioritizing visits to all those wish list homes!
Nestled on 7 acres in the beautiful Green Mountains of Vermont, The Black A Frame is not just the perfect adventurer’s home base, but a destination in itself! This cozy getaway makes for an amazing couple’s retreat, but can also be a great option for a group trip - there are 2 bedrooms on the main floor and a third (my personal favorite) bedroom upstairs. After some recent renovations, the new loft space looks out on the light and airy living space below. I also LOVE all the natural light that comes in through the cabin’s floor to ceiling windows. No matter what part of the home you’re in, you’re greeted by sights of the enchanting land that surrounds it.
In the mornings I got in the habit of exploring the grounds - as a city goer there’s nothing so lovely as the sounds of the forest. Along my walk, I even stumbled upon patches of wild strawberries! Another perk to all the property’s outdoor space - an incredible fire pit is situated directly in front, along with dining and seating space on the deck, as well as a hot tub (can’t beat an après-ski soak!).
If you’re looking to get out and see some local New England charm - Vermont has PLENTY of it - there’s a quaint farmer’s stand just down the road, and you’re a short drive to a slew of the state’s best ski resorts. My home Ikon Pass mountain being Stratton, it was a no brainer to head over there for an afternoon hike. If you have the time, make sure to grab a snack in the village (Mad Coffee Roasters is a favorite for a baked good and caffeine fix) and then take the gondola ride up to visit the fire tower!
