Summer at Camp Duraflame

Hi friends! 

Is it just me or do summer nights always become more magical when spent around a campfire? Most of our favorite nearby campgrounds are still waiting to open, so we decided to create our own summer camp right in the backyard! With the help of Duraflame OUTDOOR firelogs, we’ve had some truly memorable evenings mere steps from home.

One of my favorite things about camping trips is, without a doubt, the food (ha!). I love the simplicity of cooking over an open flame. With a little planning and creativity, the sky’s the limit when it comes to mealtime! Duraflame has some really great campfire recipes on their site, which has inspired me to share a few of my own.

I’m sure that by now, you all know about my love for s’mores! Duraflame shared a great savory twist on this classic, so I decided to create my own version (both sweet AND savory).

 I also can’t recall a camping trip without at least a couple helpings of campfire potatoes. They’re delicious, incredibly filling and a great side for so many meals.

 Finally, a movie favorite—now enjoyed outdoors—skillet popcorn. This one is so simple and took just a few minutes. Keep reading through for recipes!

Tips for making your favorite campfire foods:

You don’t need large flames for roasting campfire foods. In fact, you want to avoid them. We started with just two Duraflame OUTDOOR firelogs and let them burn for a bit before placing the grate down.  Don’t forget to roast a few marshmallows too! I love campfires built with these OUTDOOR firelogs.

Just three logs (9.6 lb) produce a fire that lasts for up to three hours, equivalent to a full bundle of firewood (about 16-20 lb), producing 48% more heat energy per pound than regular wood!
