Cades Cove

Hi guys! Sorry for the lack of updates on here - September has been so busy! Can you believe it's the official last day of Summer? This month is flying by - before you know it, we'll be pulling out cozy sweaters and throwing an extra blanket on the bed at night. We just celebrated V's birthday, and we'll be heading up to Boston this weekend. I'm honestly so excited, I haven't been back in five years! It's strange, I lived in Boston for less than a year, but the place (and people) had such a major impact on my life. I can't believe that was almost ten years ago! It will be interesting to head back to my old haunts, and to share them with V - he's never been to Boston before, or New England for that matter. We're hoping we see some of the infamous Fall foliage!

In celebration of the last day of Summer, I wanted to share some photos from our trip to Cades Cove. I was a little hesitant to drive here, I didn't know if the scenery would be worth the extra detour. But I'm really glad we did. We got there about an hour before sunset, which turned out to be the perfect time. The entire valley was bathed in an incredible golden light. This place was our first introduction to the Smokies, and I can't describe how giddy I was to see those blue-green mountains surrounding us. Walking through tall grasses, exploring abandoned churches, petting horses alongside the road - couldn't have asked for a better welcome to East Tennessee. I am almost done sharing our summer road trip, I hope you've liked the photos so far!
